DOWNTOWN SHREVEPORT DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION

The Downtown Shreveport Development Corporation was established as a 501 (c) 4 not-for-profit to advance the development of downtown, acting in its capacity as a development corporation. DSDC contracts for management services with the Downtown Development Authority.

DSDC owns and operates the Shreve Park Parking garage on the 500 block of Fannin Street.

The ShrevePark Garage facade replacement included the north elevator tower and the south stairwell tower. Recently, a lighting throughout the garage enhanced the look and security in the facility.

DSDC also manages a low interest loan fund. Loans are made primarily for facade related improvements, although roof replacement, residential construction, landscaping and other improvements are encouraged. As part of a continued effort to enhance the West Edge Arts District, DSDC partnered with First United Methodist Church in the redevelopment of the church’s property at the head of Texas Street.  Facing Texas Street, Milam, and Common, the 115-space surface parking lot accommodates monthly and hourly parkers.  DSDC invested $100,000 to help develop the lot.  ShrevePark Parking Services provides daily oversight.  Monthly parking:  $30.  Call 318-222-7403 for more information.

DSDC2, Inc. was created to encourage the redevelopment of older buildings. This non-profit is a co-general partner with Historic Restoration Inc. in the 109 unit Lee Hardware and United Jewelers apartment complex.

DSDC2, Inc. (an affiliate of DSDC) purchased and renovated a deteriorated property at 617-619 Texas Street.  DSDC invested $350,000 to purchase and renovate the building.  DSDC and DDA are partnering with the Robinson Film Center to champion the development of a cinema/theater in the West Edge Arts District.  The Film Center will be the first of its kind in the south when completed.
