Founded in 1973, the Shreveport Ballet offers a number of performances throughout the year including a free outdoor performance at Riverfront Park, the Nutcracker and other performances. Dancers from age eleven to adult are chosen each spring during open audition to become members of the Junior and Senior Companies of the Ballet.

The Robinson Film Center
The Robinson Film Center is a 501(c) (3) not-for-profit arts organization based in Shreveport, LA. Their mission is to provide a venue for independent, international, and classic cinema while serving as a resource for film production and media education.  In addition to daily film programming, they offer Film and media production classes for all ages and provide a variety of resource and facilities to the region’s burgeoning film industry.

Big Names
National acts are no stranger to downtown's many performing venues. The Historic Strand Theater, Civic Theater, Expo Hall and Harrah's all host touring national touring acts.

In late 1997, Patti LaBelle, Jeff Foxworthy, the Moscow State Ballet, Little Richard, Jack Jones, Tanya Tucker and a number of national Broadway touring companies played downtown's halls.

In 1998, renovations to the Municipal Auditorium (home of the former Louisiana Hayride) were completed, adding yet another venue for high quality entertainment in downtown.

Mudbug Madness

Produced by Downtown Shreveport Unlimited, Mudbug Madness is a large food and music festival held during the Memorial Day weekend. Crawfish is the main attraction as thousands gather on the riverfront to enjoy a variety of music and food in a casual atmosphere. Mudbug madness started in 1984 and has grown into a regional tradition.
