Using ParkCardsIn an effort to make parking more convenient, the DDA has upgraded all meters in the core of downtown to electronic meters and equipped those meters to use ParkCards as well as coins! Now parkers won’t have to search for quarters when parking on downtown’s main streets. ParkCards are the newest way to purchase time on downtown’s parking meters. The size of a credit card, ParkCards fit conveniently in your wallet or pocket. The Smart Way to Pay for Parking To pay for parking with the ParkCard, simply insert it into the slot on the parking meter. The meter will read the tiny microchip embedded in the card and display how much money is left on the card. Once inserted, time will immediately be purchased on the meter in 25 cent increments and that amount will be deducted from the remaining value on the ParkCard. When desired amount of parking time at the meter is reached, simply remove the ParkCard from the slot. ($20.00 will purchase 40 hours of parking time.) ParkCards will not allow users to add time beyond the specific meter’s pre-set limit. (For example: the meter zone has a maximum two-hour parking limit. A ParkCard would not allow a parker to pay for more than two hours at that specific meter.) Any time purchased and not used at the specific meter, will be refunded back to the ParkCard. (Upon return, reinsert card to refund value for unused time.)
